This is most definitely NOT fixed on my hardware. Currently
running:

        xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.11.0-10.fc11.x86_64
        kernel-2.6.29-0.237.rc7.git4.fc11.x86_64

with the system rebooted after these updates were applied.

As an example of how bad the latency can be at times, trying to scroll
(with the scroll wheel) up and down that bug report using Firefox, the
seconds in the Gnome panel clock applet would only update every 3-4
seconds (i.e. the entire X server output freezes including graph
updates of the system monitor applet).

The CPU is around 95% idle and there is plenty of available memory:

total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1995644 1897708 97936 0 174068 760532
-/+ buffers/cache: 963108 1032536
Swap: 0 0 0

Only unusual log messages on my system are:

# dmesg:
BUG: MAX_LOCKDEP_ENTRIES too low!
turning off the locking correctness validator.
__ratelimit: 15 callbacks suppressed

# Xorg.0.log contains about 4 lines of:
(EE) Kensington Kensington Expert Mouse: Read error: Resource temporarily unavailable

# Other
I don't know if it is relevant, but my trackball is USB and /proc/interrupts shows:
 16: 373507 404690 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb5, radeon

Nothing of note in audit.log
