And we're talking about PCI radeon 9250, not HD48xx :o) It works fine with F8 up to kernel 2.6.24.7-92.fc8. After that, mostly OK, but locks up after anything from an hour to a day, and can trigger a "hard" freeze by running a few 3D apps then (oddly) quitting one of them. As F8 was near EOL when I discovered the latter, it's NOT been filed as a bug.
