Anyone else seeing this? The problem is still there.

I created https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487757
but it doesn't look like anyone has commented on or looked at it.

I worked around the problem by downloading and building
Emacs 23.0.91, which seems to be working pretty well.

For your information, here is the feature request for Emacs 23:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/487615

On the latter, you commented that "Apparently Emacs 23.0.91 solves
[487757]". I didn't mean to apply that - that fact that 23.0.91
work for me while 22.3.1 doesn't could be because 23.0.91 was
built with a different compiler, or configuration environment,
or there might be some side effect of the package build process.

But if it could be confirmed then that would be an argument for
upgrading Emacs even at this late date.

One experiement is I could try to download 22.3.1 from source
and try to build it in the same way I built 23.0.91.

But first I'd like to hear if anyone else is seeing this problem
- if not, that would be puzzling.
