There is. On the page giving mirrors put in (again in large font and probably even in red) a message that one should not run yum -y update but should, instead, first do yum update rpm. (Or, before it's fixed, I think the simplest way would be yum install yum-downloadonly, then run yum --download only rpm, and give the rest of the instructions.) It doesn't seem as if that would be difficult or time consuming and then one follows the Principle Of Least Astonishment. For example, as there were no quick results with google, I had to wonder was it something in my installation, machine, or whatever, rather than knowing it was a known issue. And putting it right there, by the mirror listing, ensures that it will be most likely to be seen, at what seems, at least, to cost little in time and effort. As that great philosopher, Eeyore said, "A little kindness, a little consideration for others makes all the difference." :) The fix really isn't at all difficult IF one is aware of the problem, and it's not even that ugly a situation as it's a simple fix. It's knowingly putting out something badly broken and not letting people know which makes it ugly. It's Rawhide, people know (or should know) that they're treading dangerous ground, so breakage isn't necessarily a disaster. Still, playing with Rawhide (for testers and pre-adapters so to speak) shouldn't have to be a full time job, carefully reading every post on testing and devel and daily checking release notes.
