If I wait a minute (or so), and the play something, I do get a click/pop/hickup right before sound starts. I don't think I've got any custom made scripts for powersaving on the sound card. I did get some help on freenode (IRC), at #alsa and #pulseaudio and they suggested to disable powersaving for my sound card, but I was told my card probably didn't support powersaving. But http://bughost.org/pipermail/power/2007-May/000266.html suggested otherwise so I added "options snd-ac97-codec power_save=0" to /etc/modprobe.d/my-sound and rebooted. And now I can't notice any pop/click/hickup when I play sound anymore! Yay!
