The following builds have been pushed to Fedora 10 updates-testing
[ and so forth ]
Good morning,
I've just had a discussion on Freenode's #fedora, where there seemed
to be a mixed response regarding f10 updates testing.
Specifically, I asked if someone used f10 updates testing, would there
be support for any problems on #fedora -- the response was mixed, with
some folks saying that updates-testing wasn't appropriate for a
production system, and therefore, shouldn't be supported in #fedora.
Those that enable update-testing are expected to deliver feedback to
bodhi ( bodhi.fedoraproject.org )
and report back to the bug they filed ( if they did ) if their bug got
fixed and the update work or did not work as expected.
Bodhi is the final filter before package hit's the end-user(s) .
If you are experiencing any bugs then you can try to enable
update-testing and update just that package
( yum update <package> --enablerepo=updates-testing ) encase the package
that contains the fix is in bodhi.
If you are on a "production" system then just wait until the updates come.
If you are on a "production" system that has a bug then try update the
package by enabling update-testing
and if you still encounter the bug report it.
In some cases updates in updates-testing may break your system and eat
your babies
It's usually in rare cases but it does happen so enable updates testing
for a "production" system
or a novice end user(s) might no be such a great idea.
