I am using Skype successfully with F10. Are you using Pulse for audio?
You need to make sure that you have configured your mic correctly. In
audio configuration, "sound in" should be your physical device, "sound
out" and ringing should be set to pulse.

Also, take a look at this http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup.
