Try starting firefox with the environment variable ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true It will show lots of debug info. If you can post that info, and the /tmp/java.std{err,out} files (created when ICEDTEAPLUGIN_DEBUG=true), that'd be very helpful in tracing the issue.
