On radeon HD 36xx cards, too the radeon driver works 'out of box'

What I have is this (from lspci):
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV535 [Radeon X1650
series] (rev 9e)
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV535 [Radeon X1650
Series] (rev 9e)

It should work well with driver radeonhd and possibly radeon

Check man radeon

Boot to runlevel 3, modprobe radeonhd,
create a suitable xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 (copy from sda for eg)

I'll look at this, previous releases have generated xorg.conf at install. I have seen posts indicating that this new X didn't need it. Seems like a complex thing for the average user.

Then 'startkde' (no options allowed)

no kde here, but I get the idea. ;-)

Repeat with 'radeon'

Thanks for the suggestions.
