The DG45ID has no IDE connector and no PS2 connectors.
I didn't notice that when I bought the DG45ID to replace a
DG33BU that had a failed audio jack. I had to get a SATA
DVD burner to use this board conveniently. Just as well,
the IDE DVD burner was having increasing trouble opening
its door and is now kaput.
The DG33BU also also had assignable jacks, but they defaulted
to useful settings so there was no problem with Linux. The
default on the DG45ID is that the blue "line out" jack is an
output until Windows software reconfigures it.
The DG45ID took forever to boot. Well, it seems like forever.
The DG45ID has only one PCI slot, which isn't enough when
it is necessary to add both an ethernet and sound card to
get some flavors of Linux working.
On the other hand, the DG45ID can sample audio at 192 kHz.
This is good news for bats and SDR/ham radio experimentors
if some future version of ALSA can hack the jacks.
