File a bug -- X not working (somehow) without xorg.conf is considered to be a bug since at least Fedora 6. It doesn't mean that we should know you need icelandic keyboard layout, or maybe 3G won't work, but you should have working X.

And don't worry a possibility to use xorg.conf won't go away anytime soon.
