Subject: No xorg.conf status?
Just wondering if we are still going ahead with removing the need of
xorg.conf
for F11 and what's the overall status of that quest.
So far the only problem(s) I have encountered is after installation I
need to
go to System --> Hardware ---> Keyboard and set the layout of the
keyboard to Icelandic.
And I need to have it in dual monitor setup..
Is anyone else testing this or am I the only one..
So what happens if you need to use X on a non-standard setup that is
not detected properly by X?
I have problems already on F9 with my X installation not computing the
correct font sizes when I use a virtual desktop size. Please see this
bug report for more:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=460895
Kind Regards,

"not detected properly by X"
You mean when you set the virtual size
out site the supported resolution by the driver...
What's the output of xrandr ?
Is this dual monitor setup?
It should also be noted that over on ye ol' fedora-list, there
are several people complaining that X locks out their keyboards (both
USB and standard PS/2) if they don't keep their old Xorg.conf files.
One of them is planning to file a BZ report. Look for a bug reported
by Patrick O'Callaghan <pocallaghan@xxxxxxxxx>.
In fact I ended up adding to an existing bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=456680
Note that the original bug was filed against Xorg-1.4.99, which I had no
problems with, but it got me when I updated to Xorg-1.5 (from
updates-testing). The bug seems to be related to the new(ish) evdev
input device handler, which replaces the old kb and mouse handlers and
is set to become standard in F10 according to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/EvdevInputDriver so I have my
fingers crossed :-)
However AFAIK this doesn't seem related to problems with monitors.
Ah, good to see you're on this list as well, Patrick. I was just trying
to make sure the Rawhide gang knew about it.
