Is there a way to do a media-less install?

I downloaded Fedora-10-Alpha-i686-Live.
I extracted isolinux/vmlinuz and initrd0.img,
copied them to /boot, and edited grub.conf, as
suggested in
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/f9/en_US/ap-medialess-install.html

It started boot, and I got to:
Running plymothd
Kenel panic - not panic: Attempting to kill init!

It would be helpful not not have to burn media ...
