They've supported labels for quite a while now. See the -L parameter
to mkswap.
Unfortunately, if you go to reuse {even with formatting} an existing swap partition, anaconda.9 either fails to get the right info into fstab, or the boot process is not happy with the info, so that the swap partition does not get mounted.

I have had to revert to adjusting the fstab name to be by /dev/sdX
I also had a go at doing it be UUID, but no success there. The swap doesn't load on boot, even though swapon -a works.

Not ppc specific if all that also applies to Guillaume... Happy to write a bug about this, but haven't done so yet.
