Can't login to Gnome or xfce desktops - F10

After updating rawhide to gnome* and kde* and xfce* and gdm* and x* and 
as many other packages as possible using yum update vice packagekit from 
rawhide today 20080513, can't login to gnome or xfce desktops via gdm, 
it just resets back to login screen.  Have a custom.conf set to auto 
login.  Can login to kde or fluxbox desktops.  Problem exists with both 
standard user and root usernames.

Any ideas?
