BTW....you were right.....I tried the Trident driver and it worked fine. Beats me why it was using vesa but it was at one point and it worked back then. Looks like your work around works for but hopefully your bug report with unearth a fix for others. Thanks! That said, it's certainly due to a recent change in the vesa driver. We're trying to set 24+32bpp but your card doesn't support that. We _should_ detect that case correctly but clearly aren't.
