Both gedit and kwrite in my F9 system print out their pages with very

margins which were more suitable for punching holes and insertion in a
notebook.

Anyone else confirm this?

I can't find a way to set it differently, and would really like to
have the old wider margins back.

I haven't tried that on my printer, but I would assume they use the default margins for the printer queue, in system-config-printer. I know I've seen 'text margins' in there for my canon inkjet printer.
