rpm --rebuilddb

and see if any of the response times get better.

echo 'n' | yum -y -d3 groupinstall XFCE | grep 'time:'
Config time: 4.050
rpmdb time: 0.005
pkgsack time: 31.438
group time: 33.113
up:Obs Init time: 78.912
up:simple updates time: 9.523
up:obs time: 0.158

up:condense time: 0.000
updates time: 175.059
Depsolve time: 140.220
rpm_check_debug time: 15.349
Transaction Test time: 336.443
Transaction time: 603.418

time rpm --rebuilddb

real    10m14.782s

sys    1m8.705s

time package-cleanup --orphans
Setting up yum
beecrypt-4.1.2-13.i386
