Other applications could print but the job would be continually retrying
until the firewall was opened on the server.

The difference with the GTK+ print dialog is that it fetches the PPD for
the queue in order to provide correct default values in the option
widgets.  If this PPD exists but cannot be fetched, the 'Print' button
is made insensitive.
