This doesn't seem to be the case. I took a look on forums and saw your
posts. I ran set and also tried echo $http_proxy (both upper and lower
case, as well as ftp_proxy) but it just came back blank.

I then ran openbox and started firefox from an xterm in it, doing a
tail -F /var/log/messages. I got the following

Apr 7 19:25:09 acerfedora gconfd (scottro-2478): starting (version 2.22.0), pid 2478 user 'scottro'
Apr 7 19:25:09 acerfedora gconfd (scottro-2478): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" to a read-only configuration source at position 0
Apr 7 19:25:09 acerfedora gconfd (scottro-2478): Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/home/scottro/.gconf" to a writable configuration source at position 1
Apr 7 19:25:09 acerfedora gconfd (scottro-2478): Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults" to a read-only configuration source at position 2

The next lines are after I did a ctl+C to get out of it.

So, I guess something with gconfd? <goes into rant about gnome---ok,
I'm better now.> :)

I'm not quite sure where to troubleshoot this, I'll try googling those
error messages later tonight.

Cordelia: What's her saga?
Xander: She's freaking.
Cordelia: About what?
Xander: The mayor is gonna kill us all during graduation.
Cordelia: Oh. Are you gonna go to 5th period?
