Many thanks to all--now I can stop sweating! I should've had a look at bugzilla before I posted.

You can add me to the list: FC9b failed; the x86_64 binary linked to from 437701#11 works perfectly. Cool. I wonder what the change/fix was.

Now to get after yum. Updating >600 packages manually is not something I ever hope to repeat.

I've had pretty regular rpm database corruption for most of F8's run, but I also had some failed memory tests on my old system, so I could never be sure if it was yum/db4 that was borked or my hardware.
