I just updated an f9-alpha installation, and now I can't log in to X. I
see a message from gdm-simple-slave saying that it's "unable to

From the user standpoint, I give it a username and password, the screen
goes blank for a while, then I go back to the gdm login screen.

Similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=435104 although could be two separate issues. In my comments there I had something like what Matej originally reports, but also something like what you've got here, so I may have two problem sources.

No, those are the same *symptom*, but probably different problems.

On my rawhide boxes, when gnome-session starts it gets an X Window System error: The program 'gnome-session' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
(Details: serial 22 error_code 3 request_code 2 minor_code 0)

(that's from my .xsession-errors file)

Doesn't have anything to do with pressing a key. I'll file (or find) about this shortly.

By the way - booting into runlevel 3 and running 'startx' works fine. Still trying to figure out the cause of this one..
