SAS (Serial attached SCSI)

IBM servers use SAS for their SCSI disks and the support for this has 
been very patchy - still using AS3 on one server to get a working server.

Does anyone know the status of SAS support or if there is a good howto? 
I would like to migrate to F8 and I'm about to buy new servers.
