I found that early on but it didn't do a thing.

I may have to relook at x86_64 for my desktop.

Removing nspluginwrapper and reinstalling did work for me.  Thanks 
very much for help.

It appears though that this version of java has no support for 
version 5 or 6 features.  So now I need to go back and figure out how 
to install Sun's java and make it work.  Maybe it will this time.
