That quite likely is related to
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=194558
which still sits as NEW.  This can be quite confusing at
some moments.  You may try to search for "lost" sessions
with 'pgrep -f -l gdm' from a console and peek in an output
which vts are in use in the given moment.  Hopefuly not
something you cannot reach anymore.
