Hi, Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for this issue. Might it be fixed soon? Or is it best to just do an fdisk and see if that will work? thanks bk -----Original Message----- From: fedora-test-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fedora-test-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Boyd Kelly Sent: October 24, 2007 12:07 PM To: fedora-test-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Fedora 8 can't read parition table sata drives Hello, I have recently been upgrading my kernel from fc7 to fc8. I am able to boot from Fedora (2.6.20-1.2949.fc7). But I cannot boot from vmlinuz-2.6.23.1-26.fc8 or from the fedora 7.92 rescue CD. When I boot from the CD, it does recognize my boot drive (/dev/sdb), but not the partitions on the drive. I did note in the faq to put options libata ignore_hpa=1 into my modprob.conf file, and rebuilt a new initrd, but this did not work either. Also when booting from the 7.92 rescue CD i get following ominous dmesg output: sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Add. Sense: Scsi parity error end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 0 Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 0 Dev sdb: unable to read RDB block 0 sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk At least I can still boot under fc7, but it would be nice to move forward. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks very much, Boyd Please note my controller, and loaded modules under the fc7 kernel. Entire dmesg under 7.92 rescue cd is attached.
