1) I had installed kernel-devel 2.6.23.1-26 by yum/yumex and
everything was reported o.k.
2) I didn't succeeded to compile alsa-drivers, so I had to investigate why
3) I found that many files and directories were missing during installation
4) I disinstalled and reinstalled kernel-devel 2.6.23.1-26 twice but
same results
5) at dinner European time I found that a new kernel (....30) was
online, so I installed it along with devel and headers and everything
was o.k. including installation of alsa driver
6) I got to the point that something was broken with .26, not with my
system and I still have same opinion

lines of course...

Tnx for help, problem has been solved mainly to your suggestion and
somenone else pointing out that .26 was not on the shelf any more...
