hi
tried to update my rawhide box.

"yum install kernel" has installed kernel 2.6.23-0.115.rc3.git1.fc8
without errors and i can see the related entries under /boot and in
grub.conf.

so far so good.

if i boot the box (rawhide is chain loaded) i see in grub's graphical
menu the aged entries

- 2.6.23-0.74.rc2.git1.fc8 *and*
- 2.6.23-0.73.rc2.git1.fc8

but no 2.6.23-0.115.rc3.git1.fc8 lines
and kernel 73 was deleted by the above "yum install kernel" !

1st thought: grub has a problem

tried grub-install /dev/sda3 (3 is correct !)
turns out:
The file /boot/grub/stage2 not read correctly

So this sounds like (all of):

1) you've got another /boot on some other partition, from some other install
2) you're booting it (or grub installed to the MBR) instead of sda3
3) /boot/grub/device.map is wrong
