One of the reasons why I used the intel is because in FC6 and FC7 the
i810 driver quite often gave me a completely black screen instead of
gdm login (instead the rhgb part was ok).
In FC6 quite never I was able to go in 1280x1024 with this monitor and
I had to use 1024x768.
In FC7 sometimes I get ok and sometimes not. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace being
my friend...
Also, in FC6 915resolution command tried, but it doesn't always worked...
After latest updates (and 3194 kernel) the situation is now:
- intel driver
reboot; rhgb screen smaller than full screen, gdm login smaller than full screen
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace gdm login restarts ok in full screen
- i810 driver
reboot; rhgb screen ok; gdm login completely black;
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace gdm login restarts ok
My grpahic controller is reported by lspci as:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 04)
I noticed that with the i810 I get many WW in Xorg.0.log, while with
intel only ...
