Before running k3b (and probably others) try:  ulimit -l unlimited

Ok, that seems to help. Thanks for your answer and to the others who
have answered.

At least, I can burn with k3b as root now. I will report back if
Gnomebaker works as well.

What will be done about this in Fedora 7?
