I've attached it.  The only change I made manually was adding the
     Virtual         3040 1200
line.

I suspect this will only do anything useful for 965 chips.  945 and
below have a hardware coordinate limit of 2048x2048, and the driver
isn't smart enough to work around that yet.  965's limit is 4096x4096.

Huh?   My Dell E1405 contains an Intel 945GM, according
to Xorg.log.0.
