After a clean install of FC6 and after yum update brought it uptodate, I can't do two things: 1) Control Panel can't add a new printer (clean install means no printer defined), missing printconf-tui 2) After running /etc/cron.daily/makewhatis.cron, apropos returns "nothing appropriate" regardless of argument. I just did a clean install Sunday Night, then a full update and did not experience these issue.
1. Did you verify the ISO sha1sum?
2. Did you do a media check for any media you burned for this install?
That is where I would start.
