I'm seeing the same problem Mike Chambers reported - panic with "can't mount /dev/root" relevant portion of grub.conf: title FCdev-8 2.6.19-1.2885.fc7 root (hd0,7) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-1.2885.fc7 root=LABEL=FC-dev ro vga=791 initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.19-1.2885.fc7.img savedefault boot Had the same problem with kernel 2.6.19-1.2881. Kernel 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 works properly. In fact the above stanza was created by cutting and pasting the stanza for kernel 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 and modifying the entries. Also, the initrd-xxx-img file for the more recent kernels are over twice the size of the file associated with kernel 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6.
