In particular it does not provide an executable called 'mozilla' which may, or may not, be important to some external packages. Not that anything stops you from adding your own script with that name which really execs seamonkey with its own arguments. You may have some binaries which insist on running something with a specific "mozilla" name. > What for the mozilla-devel package. 'seamonkey' packages from extras are "all-in-one" so this should supply 'devel' part too and all other pieces; you want it or not. As a matter of fact it would be pretty simple to create "mozilla replacement" packages for FC6. That would, in particular, ensure that upgraded systems are not left with obsolete and vulnerable mozilla versions. It also would avoid a confusion like yours. I even posted here https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=207630#c1 a sample FC5 spec file for such packaging. It may require minor tweaks/improvements and for FC6 a trivial change on %files list is needed (/etc/gre.d/gre.conf now belongs to 'firefox'). An owner of 'seamonkey' package does not want to acknowledge issues and is not interested. Shrug! OTOH I do not understand why FC5 'mozilla' packages, with a long list of known security vulnerabilities`, were not replaced months ago by 'seamonkey' - the same style like in RHEL. There are no technical reasons AFAICS and I am running something like that for a long time. Few other packages have to be recompiled too; like every time when 'mozilla' update was showing up. > I don't find a seamonkye-devel for include files... > I would like to recompile democracy 0.9.1 while waiting for 0.9.2 and > in spec file I have mozilla-devel as dependancy. Produce your own seamonkey packages after you adjusted a spec from URL above (results provide a "fake" mozilla-devel too and FC6 is easier as other packages do not depend on mozilla or seamonkey) or replace mozilla-devel dependency in your spec by seamonkey and hope for the best.
