Thanks! That did it! I'm sort of surprised because I had used driconf and created a .drirc file in my home directory that *had* the r200 specified and that didn't seem to work... But I now have effects working at 1280x1024! It does seem a *little* slow, so I might play around with some other things. Thanks much!
