I have an Asus P5b-VM mb with JMicron JMB363 controller.
On specifications I have that it provides 1 x UltraDMA 133/100/66 for
up to 2 pata devices.
In my messages with 2784 kernel I get:
kernel: Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00alpha2
kernel: ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override
with idebus=xx
kernel: JMB363: IDE controller at PCI slot 0000:03:00.1
kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.1[B] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 177
kernel: JMB363: chipset revision 2
kernel: JMB363: 100% native mode on irq 177
kernel: ide2: BM-DMA at 0xb400-0xb407, BIOS settings: hde:pio, hdf:pio
kernel: ide3: BM-DMA at 0xb408-0xb40f, BIOS settings: hdg:pio, hdh:pio
kernel: hde: ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
kernel: ide2 at 0xbc00-0xbc07,0xb882 on irq 177
Does it makes sense to override with idebus directive if I only have
an ide DVD-RW device connected?
Could this be the cause of slow speed of device compared with fc5
(2.6x vs 7-8x)?
Thanks
Gianluca
