I have now: kernel-2.6.18-1.2693.fc6, xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.1.1-40.fc6, xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.2-1.fc6 and compiz-0.0.13-0.27.20060817git.fc6. And still a machine which hangs on turning on compiz ...
