Most wireless drivers in some version take more stack than the kernel is configured for. When you run one of these you get lockups when running other programs. Before complaining about any lockup with a foreign driver installed you should ALWAYS find out how much stack it uses and recompile the kernel, if necessary, so that there is enough stack.
