Clearly some do as there is this bug report quoted above and also http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354422 The problem appears to be a race condition in metacity; thus it will depend on your usage patterns, relative speeds of variour hardware and software components involed, luck, a phase of the moon, etc., etc. As I understand a discussion on bugzilla.gnome.org the race is caused by multiple uses of a meta_display_get_current_time() function and the current metacity version removes at least some of these. Most likely it would be the best if you would add your comments and observations to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354422 The current status of this bug is FIXED and it appears that you have an evidence that this is not the case.
