No lock file, but the segfault is definitely suspicious

No luck getting a stack trace. But then again I'm not very familiar with
gdb or python.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry about replying to myself.
It looks like there is something that needs to be added to the pirut
package. Possibly a "requires". Below is a list of 47 packages that I
installed on my system and fixed the problem with pirut not starting.
One of the list apparently is needed by pirut but is not required by the
package.
