I also can't see the session saving option, which was rather handy - not
to mention the new shutdown icon looks.. well I can't tell what it's
supposed to be to be honest.

It bugs me that it says "System will shutdown in 0 seconds" or some
such. Superfluous.
Can you file a bug report on that?. It does look unnecessarily confusing as to whether it means that the system not shutdown or will shutdown immediately.
