This is happening now with > the testing kernel-2.6.15-1.1823_FC4 You may need to run vbetool before/after. For a lot of video hardware, we don't know enough details to bring the screen back to life. On these systems, we re-run the video bios to reinit the screen using vbetool. you can find this tool in pm-utils.
