Fedora's implementation is the Free Java stack (libGCJ, Eclipse compiler, GNU Classpath, etc.), which at the moment only has about 97% of JDK 1.4 implemented[1]. Work on finishing that is progressing nicely, and about 88% of JDK 1.5 is implemented as well[2] (mainly the stuff from JDK 1.4). So, it seems that (at the moment) you need to use Sun's proprietary Java stack if you really need Java 1.5-specific capabilities.
