Even after edits in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf, so the current X server will be used, I cannot start anything but "failsafe", I believe, i.e some kind of twm session and this is root or no root. Quite possibly I would have to check every path there but I am not sure what I am really searching. OTOH with 'startx' I am getting a regular sessions both for root and not-root accounts.
