Yeah, see: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=169631

Until fixed, here are 2 'work arounds' (both work for me):
    1. revert to an earlier version of arts
    2. changing the 'sound preference method' in gaim preferences from
'automatic' to 'arts'.
