I just purchased a new
Samsung 913v 19" LCD monitor. Under FC-1, I disconnected my old monitor (Compaq 21" tube) and plugged in the new monitor and it worked, but complained that the resolution was not optimum. I decided this was the perfect time to upgrade to FC-4. So with the Samsung attached, I went thought the install, choosing the default - gnome. Now when I boot, when it switches modes, I get a blank white screen, and never see anything else. If I press CTRL-ALT-F1, I get a screen with a bunch of boxes on it, and I can't see a thing. Believing that their must be a login prompt there, I login as root. The screen changes to text mode, and I can see most of the text that should be on the screen, but somehow I can't see everything. Like, if I do an 'ls -l' I can see everything but the file names :) If I run system-config-display, it immediately blanks the screen (all white) and I can't see a thing again!. If I press CTRL-ALT-F2, I can login even thought the screen is full of colored boxes like before with CTRL-ALT-F1. OK, so, how do I configure the system for my monitor? Sure, I could hook up my old tube, configure things and then switch back, but, surely there is a way without switching monitors around - right??? Thanks for the help! -- Bill |
