What happens when yum gets to installing udev, and sees it deprecates MAKEDEV and
friends, and your /dev goes away ? That would seem to be the major spanner
in the works for in-place updates.

By the way, how do you do an upgrade from the command line for, say, an upgrade from FC3 to FC4T3. What is the exact command line syntax to be used for this upgrade?
