Since the people being referred to, are the only ones capable of making the changes and seem to believe they are Omnipotent beings, you would not believe such a group would be considered vulnerable. Maybe it's a dialect thing, but just because a word sounds similar to a derogatory term, does not mean it is related. For instance : In North America the cover over a cars engine is a hood, in the UK it is a bonnet. In North America a ruffian is also called a hood, but in the UK they are not referred to as a bonnet.
