all right, that's just strange.  i'll poke around some more.  it's not
like an NFS install is rocket surgery or anything.  dang.

p.s.  when i got that error, i flipped back to VC3 and saw a couple
mount errors which i remember folks talking about.  sorry i didn't
make a copy of them.
