I found out that when you install the Xine programs it only works
properly if you use it under the KDE! I'm using the latest Fedora. For
some reason if I try to play a DVD under the default (Gnome) GUI, Xine
will not work properly at all. Changing to the KDE gui makes
everything work flawlessly.
I use Xine 0.99.2 (install xine-ui from source), Mplayer 1.0-0.11.pre5
and VLC 0.7.2 without any issues under FC3/Gnome.
For what it is worth, I installed mplayer with apt-get and it plays my
dvd's just fine, no problems, and I am in KDE.
